Greece, twice
Sep 27, 2026

Greece got me twice this year: once in July, and again at the end of September. Some places don't ask much of you. A patch of grass by the water, a few palms, mountains sitting quietly on the other side of the bay, and wind that shows up most afternoons. That was more or less our whole plan.

Living out of the van
We drove through the night to get there, and the first thing that greeted us was the sunrise. Mornings started slow: coffee in the back of the van, someone always looking for a lighter, the camp dog doing his rounds to check if anyone had dropped breakfast.
Waiting for the wind
Kiting teaches you patience. You pump the kite, lay it on the grass, check the water, and then you wait. I spent a lot of those hours with my camera instead, chasing light on the bay and the colours of all the kites spread out on the lawn. My first proper kite came along too. Still giving good vibes.
When the wind finally came in, it came in just before sunset, which is my favourite kind of session. Golden light, warm water, and that tired, happy feeling afterwards that makes dinner taste twice as good.

The gang
None of this would have been half as fun without the people. Long dinners, too many snacks, someone falling asleep in a camping chair. Life is good in Greece, and it's better with the right crew.
