My first solo trip, and of course it had to be Brazil. I landed in Taiba with a kite bag, a camera and absolutely no idea how much this place would get under my skin.
Wind, lagoons and a buggy
Taiba is all about the wind. Every afternoon the sky fills up with kites, and the lagoons turn into the best playground you can imagine: flat water, warm water, no waves to fight. Getting there meant bouncing over the sand in a beach buggy, which quickly became my favourite way to get anywhere.
Chasing sunsets
The light in the late afternoon is something else. The dunes go soft and golden, the sand draws little waves on its own, and for half an hour everything looks like a film still. I spent a lot of evenings out there just trying to catch it.
The most special place
Travelling alone sounds lonely until you actually do it. I met so many awesome people on this trip and made some incredible friends. Long beach days, fresh coconuts, palm trees bending in the wind, and those slow evenings where nobody is in a hurry to go anywhere.
I left my heart (and my kite) in Brazil. Thank you to everyone who made this trip so special. I can't wait for the next one.
